When purchasing business phones for your office or employees, there are now many options available. With technology continuing to advance telephone systems are also advancing. Businesses are usually the first groups to purchase and use these new technologies.
There are basically three main types of traditional business phones. These are the PBX systems, key systems, and KSU-system. PBX systems were at one time the only system that offered all of the options you would want your business phones to have.
However, key systems have advanced so much that they can now provide many of the same options. The key system uses a centralized connection, or a key system unit. Hence, a KSU-less system is a set of phones that have the same options but do not require a key system unit.
The main difference in the three business phones is the price. The PBX system is priced the highest while the KSU-less phones are the lowest. Another big difference is that the PBX system and the KSU system is more permanent, while the KSU-less system can be moved without instillation.
In addition to the traditional business phones, cellular phones are an increasing trend in business communication. Many companies are now issuing cellular phones to their employees, especially ones that do a lot of traveling. This has increased the number of cellular business plans. You should always check with your cellular provider for information on business plans.
Another fairly new technology making its way on the scene is the VoIP, or voice over internet protocol. This is a type of phone service uses the internet rather than the traditional phone line. It does require additional equipment, but is supposed to take between 20% and 30% off of your phone bill. There are drawbacks, but the technology is fairly new and will only improve over time.
